SIF ADC – IF Digitizer

The KWS800 is a high dynamic range IF digitizer that monolithically unites a programmable filter to an ADC. This companion sampled IF (SIF) filter provides anti-aliasing for the internal ADC core while simultaneously offering application-specific filtering needed to address a variety of wireless and wireline market segments. The taps can provide nearly brickwall transition bands with well controlled group delay variation.

The KW800 is a 14 bit ADC with a maximum sampling frequency of 125 MHz. The combination of LNA and AGC provides the flexibility to adjust the NF, gain and linearity for optimum performance.

Undersampling modes of operation are possible, with Nyquist band-selected antialiasing included, offering a variety of frequency translation options. An embedded frequency synthesizer provides the sampling clock to the ADC and the SIF filter.

Kaben’s SIF-ADC technology powers the Triad Semiconductor RF-VCA. The RF-VCA is a configurable RF receiver providing flexible antenna to digital reception for RF signals up to 3 GHz. The RF-VCA can be via-configured for a wide range of applications including: GPS, FM tuner, Cellular Basestations, DAB, DVB and military communications.
